“I enjoy running several incidents at once – it keeps me on my toes. There is definitely a feeling of accomplishment when everything falls in to place. I like the teamwork involved between us and the crews on the ground, working together to try and resolve incidents.” Rusty, Operator, Force Control Room

“Once you’re a police officer, there are so many different directions you can go in. The job keeps you interested and is definitely living up to my expectations. It’s a smaller force so it’s more personal, you can make an impact, learn a lot more and it’s easier to progress” Gavin, Detective Constable

“Balancing family life and shift work is easier than I thought it would be. The shift pattern is structured and planned well in advance so you can arrange your life around it.” Rosie, Contact Handler, Contact Centre

“When I joined, I assumed I would be a response officer forever, but I have had many careers within a career since. If you ever get to the point where you need a change, there’s such a wide range of roles, there’s something for everybody. As a detective you have the ownership to be able to investigate a case and it can take you all over the country. When you get a good result in court, it’s such a satisfaction because you can tell a victim they are safe.” Dee, Detective Inspector.
