Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following the robbery of a cash in transit driver in Staines.

The incident happened at 2.40pm yesterday afternoon (Monday, 11 September), as the driver walked to his van with a cash box he had collected from Frankie and Benny’s on Hale Street.

The victim was approached by two unknown men, one on foot carrying a plank of wood as a weapon and the other on a silver moped. The men escaped the scene on the moped in the direction of Moor Lane.

One of the men is described as tall and slim and was wearing a light blue zip up hoody with grey tracksuit bottoms. Both men were wearing high visibility waistcoats.

Detectives would also like to speak to the driver of a T reg blue Ford Mondeo, and a cyclist wearing a navy blue zipped hooded top and tracksuit bottoms seen talking to the men on the moped.

Investigating officer DC Alex Protts says “If you have any information about the people involved in this audacious crime, committed in broad daylight, please let us know by calling 101 or using and quote the reference number 45170100171.”
