Officers appeal for witnesses following attempted robbery in Dorking
We are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery at a Dorking newsagents this morning.
Police were called at approximately 7.20am this morning (8 November), after a person entered Capel newsagents, on The Street, Dorking.
The suspect was wearing a ‘Scream’ mask with skeleton costume, and was holding a grey item described as a pistol. They demanded money from the till and then struck the victim over the head causing minor injuries.
Inspector Andy Adams, who is investigating the incident said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time the incident took place this morning.
“This was understandably a terrifying incident for the victim, who was brave and chased the suspect out of the store. At this stage it is unknown where the suspect went after they fled the store, so if you have any information that may help piece this together, please contact us.
“I would like to reassure the local community that we are doing all we can to trace the person involved in this incident.”
