UPDATE: Investigation underway after man found with serious head injury in Woking

A man remains in a serious condition after being found with a head injury in Woking yesterday morning (1 October).

Enquiries which have been carried out have established that he was assaulted.

Officers were called to Chertsey Road just before 6am following the discovery of the man, who had suffered a significant head injury and was unconscious. He remains in hospital.

Two men were arrested in relation to the incident but have since been released with no further action.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Paddy Mayers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know that the man was the victim of a serious assault but we are still trying to establish the exact circumstances which led to this. We have a number of outstanding enquiries to carry out but in the meantime, we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the assault, which took place around 5am.”

Surrey Police is investigating after a man was found with a serious head injury in Woking in the early hours today (1 October).

Officers were called to Chertsey Road just before 6am following the discovery of the man. He has been taken to hospital.

There are a number of cordons in place in the town centre and enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.
